Program Partners and Knowlera Media Announce Alliance
Companies to Develop “How-To” Features for Broadcasters
Las Vegas – NATPE – January 25, 2010
Program Partners announced today a new alliance with Knowlera Media, one of the world’s largest and most advanced suppliers of “how-to” video content, to develop 21st-century program offerings for stations on a barter and cash basis. The companies are focusing on turn-key solutions for stations that provide high quality video content for news features, local programs and sales initiatives without expanding the affiliate’s production overhead. The programming is aimed at building the broadcaster’s share of local spot advertising budgets in key categories by expanding sponsorship opportunities.
Knowlera will provide its “first-of-its-kind” desktop toolkit that is highly regarded for its ease of use, depth of content, searchability and accessibility. All content is optimized for immediate play on multiple platforms, from broadcast to online and mobile applications. The Knowlera programming has already been put through its paces for a year in what began as a successful pilot program at NBC-owned WRC-TV in Washington, DC.
“We have always recognized that serving our stations in the 21st century would require looking beyond episodic series to find exciting new forms of syndicated programming,” said Ritch Colbert of Program Partners. “We believe Knowlera can offer new capabilities that stations previously could only dream of.”
“Working closely with WRC-TV, we’ve seen a very positive reception for our programming from not only viewers but als the programming and sales divisions of a station,” said Greg Letourneau, CEO of Knowlera Media. “And, more than ever, our alliance with PPI can help fill an immediate need for broadcasters to bring new sources of expert content to their audiences, and help them expand their partnerships with local advertisers.”
Knowlera Media is one of the world’s largest and most advanced suppliers of specialty video with a production network of over 5,000 professional filmmakers and an expanding library of more than 10,000 short-form instructional videos in hundreds of categories. Their proprietary technology in automated video editing, multi-format encoding, accelerated file transfer and content delivery will allow PPI to offer broadcasters exceptional resources optimized for on-air, online and mobile applications with revolutionary ease and efficiency.
Knowlera programming is distributed by Program Partners’ new affiliated company, PPI Releasing, LLC.
About Program Partners Program Partners is an innovative television company that collaborates with networks, sponsors and audiences on original programming.
